Salt Pool Conversions and Other Information

The current market has several models that offer digital control of the pool chlorine levels ranging from 20% to 100% chlorination. For most clients, 60% to 80% operation is sufficient to easily maintain their pool and spa.

The 0.5-to-1.0-parts-per-million chlorine level is the lowest in the industry, keeping your pool and spa in perfect harmony. It eliminates the need for harsh chemicals that sting your eyes, turn your hair green, leave your skin smelling of chlorine, and ruin your bathing suit. Most people who have converted their pools to saltwater say that they have cut down the filter operation, helping them save on electric bills.

Overall, it is a win-win situation, especially since you would be able to swim underwater with your eyes open without a problem.

Why Solar Swimming Pools?

You can significantly reduce the heating cost of your swimming pool by installing a solar-powered system. It is competitively priced compared to gas and heat pump pool heaters. Also, it has a very low annual operating cost. In fact, solar pool heating is the most cost-efficient use of the sun’s energy in various climates.

How Solar Pool System Works

For this system to work, solar collectors are installed on the roof. When the water is pumped through them, it will be heated there before it is returned to the pool. Our system features a solar thermostat that links your new solar system and your pool heater together to heat the pool and spa to your desired temperature. As a rule of thumb, we tell our clients that they can expect the solar-powered system to heat the spa and pool up to 15 degrees above the resting temperature of the water. This way, the unit would be the first one to heat the pool and spa. Once it reaches more than its peak, the gas pool heater would be activated, and it will warm up to your target temperature.

Solar pool collectors are made out of different materials. Generally, 4’ x 12’ panels are used in our climate. The number of panels you need will depend on the square footage of the pool and its total volume. In addition, installation of these systems takes one working week.
